Reports shows Tasmania needs to double construction workforce

Tasmania’s high-vis army can’t come soon enough, according to a new report released by Infrastructure Australia.

The report says that “at points between 2021 and 2025, (Tasmania) will require a workforce that is approximately twice the size of the projected supply available” and “Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia have made project commitments requiring large supply in structures and civil trades and labour…(which) underscores the magnitude of growth in these states and territories – often upward of 150 percent through to 2022.

Industry will continue to work closely with the Tasmanian Government to help the civil sector scale up.
