The Voice of the Civil Industry

The Civil Contractors Federation Tasmania is the leading voice of the civil infrastructure construction and maintenance industry in Tasmania. We represent and promote the interests of our members interests with state government, local government, and government business enterprises to ensure our members views are expressed.  We have several current campaigns.

Advocating with Government

The CCF is actively engaged with the three tiers of Government, its departments and agencies, in formulating policies and reform to optimise efficiency and cost reductions of public civil infrastructure construction and asset renewal to achieve positive outcomes for both Tasmania and the civil construction industry.

CCF has direct access to key industry decision makers, including Ministers, Shadow Ministers, and the Department of State Growth, with the aim of providing our members with “a voice” in ultimately delivering improved systems, processes, greater efficiencies and productivity within the industry.

Some of the things we are doing to help our members

We are working on a number of key strategic projects, advocating on issues that matter to our Members and implementing some new programs to support our members.

Smoothing out infrastructure spending

We are working with Infrastructure Tasmania to influence the timing of tenders and jobs coming to market, as well as timing of commencement of projects. We are hoping to see the record investment in civil infrastructure released to market in a sustainable manner to ensure all parties’ benefit.

Women in Civil Mentoring Program

We are launching a mentoring program to support our women in civil construction. Watch this space as we seek mentors and mentees to participate in this development program.

Workforce Development

With the assistance of Skills Tasmania, we are working hard on delivering the recommendations in the Civil Construction Workforce Development Plan. Our Skills Subcommittee plays a critical role in prioritising actions and programs. One program, the Paraprofessional program for industry, has been developed by TasTAFE and the first courses will be held in 2021.

Women in Civil Pre-Employment Program

Through a partnership with SERDA (South East Regional Development Authority) and TasTAFE we are running a pilot program to provide a pre employment course for women in the Sorell, Tasman, Glamorgan Spring Bay and Clarence municipalities.  Participants will do industry nominated skill sets and work experience as we promote our industry as female friendly and raise female participation rates. We will be looking for members to provide employment opportunities once these females have undertaken their training.

Your Speed is Our Safety

We are continuing to support the Your Speed is Our Safety campaign, hoping to influence driver behaviour and see increased compliance with posted speed limits in roadworks. With record investment comes record activity and more of our members exposed to the risks of working on the road. We have made a long term commitment to supporting these campaigns.

We are working with TasWater to ensure contractual and procurement fairness for our members.
